Law firm Pinsent Masons has appointed Chris Booth to be the new head of the Leeds office following the departure of Mark Owen.

Mr Booth, who will take up the post on May 1, joined the firm in 1987, becoming a partner in 1998 and national head of the employment team in 2005.

He has also sat on the regional council of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) for the past two years. ‬

Pinsent Masons is merging with Scottish firm McGrigors on May 1.

Mr Booth said: “Having been based in the region for 25 years, I am delighted to take up this role at such an exciting time for the firm.

“Whilst the firm continues to enhance its offering and geographical reach, as evidenced by our merger with McGrigors on 1 May, the opportunities within the Yorkshire region remain an important focus.”‬

Mr Owen, who became head of office in 2010, announced he was leaving the Big Six law firm to join a smaller rival’s new office in the city last week.

He will be joining Dickinson Dees as property partner and will lead the Newcastle-based firm’s property practice in Yorkshire. The firm is moving its office from York to Leeds on April 10.
