Pioneering radiotherapy study will be boosted by input from top Leeds scientists

Leeds scientists are set to play a key role in groundbreaking research into new radiotherapy treatments.

Researchers from the Cancer Research UK Leeds Centre will collaborate with experts across the UK thanks to the charity’s Centres Network Accelerator Awards.

Cancer Research UK has announced today that the awards will see £4.3million invested in a UK-wide study looking into innovative radiotherapy technologies over the next five years.

Researchers in Leeds will join forces with scientists from Manchester, Oxford and two London research centres.

Professor David Sebag-Montefiore is a professor of clinical oncology and the lead researcher for the study at the University of Leeds.

He said: “This vital investment will help us to provide the evidence we need to improve radiotherapy services across the UK.”
