Plain sailing for veteran ketch

THIS traditional Dutch sailing ketch may look incongruous among the modern pleasure boats berthed in Hull Marina, but she could teach them a thing or two about life on the ocean waves as she is still going strong after an 80-year sailing career.

Maybe, which was designed for round-the-world cruising, took part in the first Tall Ships Race in 1956 and still competes although she is also used as a sail training vessel. She stopped in Hull yesterday en route for a refit at Goole. PICTURE: TERRY CARROTT.
