Plans for field to be discussed

A controversial bid to use a field in Craven for keeping ponies is being recommended for approval.

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority’s (YDNPA) planning committee is being asked for permission to change the use of the land at Maypole Croft, Kettlewell, to equine use and build a field shelter for ponies.

But Kettlewell-with-Starbotton Parish Council has opposed the plans, prior to an amended field shelter position. The YDNPA has also received eight letters of objection.

A report for the committee due to meet on Tuesday says that the parish council’s “concerns include that the land is in part on a flood plain and provides one of the iconic views of the village, as well as being an important open space.”

The committee is being advised to grant planning permission.
