Plans for £5m youth centres unveiled

YOUTH workers have unveiled plans to spend £5m on two new "world-class" centres for young people in former South Yorkshire coalfield communities.

The projects are part of Doncaster Council's myplace project,

a "programme to create inspiring and innovative places for young people".

Initial designs and layouts for the centres in Denaby and Bentley have been created and council officers said they would now be made available at local libraries for people to view and comment on.

Andrea Milner, Doncaster Council's spokesman for children's services, said: "This myplace project is a revolutionary scheme influenced by young people for young people.

"With local input we can create two cutting edge youth centres the young people want and need in these local communities."

The council said young people have been involved throughout the design process.
