Plea over kittens abandoned in box

INSPECTORS from the RSPCA are appealing for information after three kittens, believed to be from the same litter, were found dumped in cardboard boxes in Chesterfield.

A kitten which has been named Beatrice was found abandoned in a box inBrimington on Monday, October 25. The following day, kittens which have been named Elliot and Harvey were found in a cardboard box inWhittingtonMoor, about a mile away from where Beatrice was found.

All three kittens, which are black and around six weeks old, are being cared at the RSPCA Chesterfield and North Derbyshire Animal Centre and are now available for new homes.

Assistant branch manager Gary Taylor said: "It is always so heartbreaking to learn that animals have been dumped and then left to fend for themselves. Here at the Chesterfield branch we would say to anyone who has considered dumping their animalsto get in touch with the branch. There is always help available."

RSCPA inspector Dave McAdam added: "We would urge anyone who has any information about any of these animals to contact the RSPCA cruelty line on 0300 1234 999."
