Please help us to find missing teenager who was heart and soul of our family

THE brother of 17-year-old Ben Manning who vanished after a night out in Wakefield at the weekend yesterday made an emotional appeal for help.

Ben, who lives in Swillington, Leeds, was reported missing on Saturday morning after he failed to return home from a gig.

Simon Manning, 26, said his brother was: "the heart and soul of our family."

"We all love him to bits and are missing him so so much," he said.

Members of Ben's family and friends have been helping look for him. Police have been seen searching the River Calder and along main routes in and out of the city.

Ben was last seen near the JCT 600 garage in Denby Dale Road just after 1.30am on Saturday. His last contact with friends or family was around 1.30am when he sent a text to his mother.

Officers yesterday appealed for help tracing items which Ben had with him: a bronze-coloured Yale key; a black Blackberry Curve 8520 mobile and a passport in the name of another brother, Jamie Karl Manning, which it is believed he may have used as identification to get into bars.

Mr Manning urged Ben, or anyone with any information, to get in touch via 01924 334716.

He said the family would not give up looking until Ben was found.
