I HAVE just seen Sarah Freeman’s feature (The Yorkshire Post, June 18) on the attractions of Scarborough, and the need to “raise the quality of our offering” in the words of David Chance, councillor responsible for tourism and culture. I find it astonishing that the councillor does not mention the Spa Orchestra, or the Stephen Joseph Theatre, which stages all the premieres of the plays of Alan Ayckbourn.

I AGREE with Trevor Williams (The Yorkshire Post, July 1) that we do not need to be constantly reminded of the leering face of Jimmy Savile.
