Poet Laureate 'star' of stage show

Alexandra Wood

THE first ever theatre production of Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy’s work is coming to north Lincolnshire.

The stage version of Duffy’s poems, which imagine the perspectives of the female counterparts to famous men through the ages, premiered to critical acclaim at Edinburgh two years ago and went on to the West End and successful UK tours.

The Scotsman newspaper described it as “a rich and rollicking ride through the dark and dangerous aspects of womankind.”

The poetry has been adapted and is performed by Linda Marlowe, who has been praised for her previous solo work including Berkoff’s Women, for which she won the Whatsonstage Theatregoer’s Choice Award for Best Actress.

The production comes to the Ropewalk at Barton upon Humber on September 16 at 7.30 pm.
