Police and rail staff go extra mile to pay tribute to policeman killed in Westminster

Police officers, rail staff and members of the public have gone that extra mile, quite literally, to respect the wishes of a local resident and pay tribute to fallen London policeman, Keith Palmer, who was killed in the attack in Westminster last week.

An elderly member of the public dropped off a bunch of flowers at Sheffield's Moss Way Police Station to remember the tragic events last week in London and said she wanted the gesture of condolence to be passed to PC Palmer's family.

Even though it was well out of the remit of police duties, as they were currently dealing with a number of incidents as well as trying to bring some relief to residents fed up with off road bikers, the officer on the enquiry desk, PC Rachel Attwell, didn't want to let the lady down.

So she arranged to drop the flowers at Sheffield railway station, staff of the East Midlands Trains service, carried them to London, passed them to British Transport Officer PC Smart at St Pancras who said the the flowers would be taken down by the nights shift.

The Moss Way team have since confirmed that the flowers have been left at the memorial New Scotland Yard.
