Police appeal after pedestrian killed in Dewsbury

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following the death of a pedestrian in a collision in Dewsbury.

The collision happened at around 2.35pm yesterday on Quarry Lane at its junction with the A653 Leeds Road and involved a pedestrian in his 70s and a gold DAF heavy goods vehicle.

The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who has witnessed the collision itself or the manner of driving of the heavy goods vehicle immediately prior to this incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Major Collision Enquiry Team via 101.
