Police appeal following burglaries

police in Ryedale are appealing for information and warning residents to be on their guard after a spate of burglaries from outbuildings in Cropton and Fadmoor.

Three locked garages at the same property were broken into in the village of Cropton, although nothing was stolen. The burglars then entered an insecure outbuilding at a neighbouring property where they stole an amount of foreign currency.

In the village of Fadmoor, two sheds at a property on Main Street were broken into, however, nothing was stolen. In another break-in, burglars entered an insecure business premises on The Green, Fadmoor and took a small amount of cash.

The break-ins all took place between December 1 and 4.

PC Tim Welford, of Ryedale Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Thankfully the thieves did not get away with a great deal on this occasion but residents need to be on their guard and ensure they secure valuable items out of sight with adequate security and ensure they keep their homes and outbuildings locked, even when they are at home.”

Anyone with any information about the burglaries is asked to contact police on 101.
