Police chief in line for web grilling

Web users will have the chance to grill the new assistance chief constable of North Yorkshire Police today.

Paul Kennedy will host a live web chat to mark his first month in the job with members of the public encouraged to log-on to the North Yorkshire Police 
website and ask questions about the policing issues which matter most to them and their community.

As well as neighbourhood 
policing, Mr Kennedy has responsibility for specialist units across 
North Yorkshire Police including roads policing, the mobile 
safety cameras, firearms and 
CID.

He is also the lead for Operation Hawk – the ongoing crackdown to tackle rural crime and cross-border criminals.

ACC Kennedy said: “In my first month in the job I have been particularly impressed with the professionalism of our officers and staff who show outstanding commitment in keeping our communities safe and bringing offenders to justice.

“We face tough challenges across the police service with huge demand for our support.”

The webchat will take place between 5pm and 6pm.
