Police detective appears in court accused of rape

A 46-YEAR-OLD police detective sergeant has appeared in court charged with rape.

Trevor Gray, an officer with Nottinghamshire Police, is accused of one count of rape, a further count of attempted rape and a third charge of sexual touching against a 43-year-old woman.

Nottinghamshire Police said the offences are alleged to have taken place at a house in Nottingham in the early hours of July 24 while off duty.

He has since been suspended from his position pending the outcome of the investigation.

A spokeswoman for the force said: “The allegations were originally made to Nottinghamshire Police on July 25 following which a lengthy and detailed investigation has been carried out.

“Det Sgt Gray, who was based at a regional unit, was suspended from duty on July 27.”

A spokeswoman for Derby Crown Court said he was granted bail after a preliminary hearing and is due to appear at the same court on February 23.
