Police hunt burglars who attacked man in his home and then stole and crashed his car

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after an aggravated burglary where a car was stolen and then crashed in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Two burglars forced their way into a home, before assaulting a 36-year-old man and taking the car keys to steal a white Volkswagen Passat.

The burglary happened in Lidgard Road, Humberstone at around 12.30am.

The car was then involved in a crash on North Sea Lane at the junction with Kings Road, Cleethorpes. Police said it crashed with “street furniture.” The occupants of the car fled from the scene.

The victim of the burglary sustained bruising and swelling to his hands and arm.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the burglary or the road traffic collision or who can help identify the two men involved on 101 quoting log 27 of 24/07/16 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
