Police hunt for '˜distressed' couple

The pair were spotted on Boroughbridge Road at around 5.40am by a member of the public who was concerned enough to contact North Yorkshire Police.

Officers have been searching the area to confirm the pair are safe and well and have urged them to come forward.

The police are also keen to speak to anyone else who may have seen the man and woman or have information.

The woman was reported to be in her mid-thirties with blondish hair and was wearing a short cream skirt and a white short sleeved top.

The man was described as also being in his mid-thirties, of slim build, with blondish hair and wearing a top which was lighter than his trousers.

They or anyone with information has been asked to ring North Yorkshire Police on 101.
