Police investigate attack on girl in school

Police are investigating after a 12-year-old girl was allegedly kicked, punched and gagged with toilet paper by two other girls at a Yorkshire school.

Two Year 8 pupils are believed to have been suspended after the incident, which happened at about 2pm on Tuesday at Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School in Meanwood, Leeds.

The victim, who has not been named, told police yesterday that she had been attacked in the school toilets and had suffered headaches following the incident.

A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Police confirmed inquiries were ongoing.

The school has 900 pupils aged 11 to 16 and was classed as “good” by education watchdog Ofsted after an inspection last year.

No one at the school was able to comment on the incident.
