Police investigate mystery death of man in vehicle

The grim discovery of the unidentified man's body was made in the parked car near Ogden Reservoir, Halifax, on Saturday afternoon.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "We are currently investigating the incident and are treating the death as unexplained, though it is believed there are no suspicious circumstances at this time.

"A noxious substance has been found in the vehicle but as the car was parked in a remote location there was little risk to members of the public.

"As a precaution, a number of nearby houses were evacuated until the exact circumstances were known. However, residents were allowed to return to their homes after only a short time."

Fire and rescue officers were at the scene on Saturday evening examining the scene.
