Police investigating Richmond fire appeal for witnesses as man is released on bail

A MAN arrested in connection with a fire in Richmond has been released on bail.

North Yorkshire Police today appealed for witnesses and information about the fire in Friars Wynd on Monday, which was discovered at around 6.30am.

One person was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been released.

The 34-year-old man arrested was released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Officers are asking for the public’s help in understanding the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

They would like to hear from anyone in the vicinity that witnessed any suspicious activity during the early hours of Monday morning until the attendance of the fire service and during the time the fire service and police were present.
