After emergency services arrived at the scene, the victim was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary but died as a result of his injuries. A post mortem to confirm the cause of death is due to take place later today.

Humberside Police said they had arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of murder and he currently remains in police custody.

Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Wendy North said: “At this stage we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this murder, however it is really important that anyone who heard or saw something at around 8am in the Westbourne Avenue come forward. Just because we have someone in custody, we still need witnesses to call Humberside Police on 101 quoting log 94 of 15/02/16 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

The force said the incident is not connected with a murder on West Parade, Hull last night.
