Police officer hurt in crash

The 43-year-old was driving a marked police car along Atwick Road, near Hornsea, when it was in a head-on collision with a black MG ZR travelling in the opposite direction.

The officer was flown by police helicopter to Hull Royal Infirmary, where he was detained for treatment.

The other driver, a man aged 37, was treated for minor injuries and a child who was a front seat passenger in the MG was not hurt.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash, which happened outside Northorpe Farm at 2.33pm on Monday.
