Police officer seriously hurt tackling Harrogate fight

A POLICE officer was seriously injured and a second needed treatment after a disturbance in Harrogate.

Police said a fight involving a group of men broke out on Cambridge Road at 3.20am on Saturday. As arrests were made, a constable suffered a broken leg which needed surgery. Yesterday the officer was in hospital in a stable condition.

A second officer was treated at hospital and released after suffering an elbow injury.

A man, aged 20, has been charged in connection with the incident and a woman, aged 19, has been questioned and bailed.
