Both Humberside Police officers will face allegations that their conduct amounted to a breach of the Standards of Professional Behaviour contrary to the Police (Conduct) Regulations 2012 during a four-day hearing at the force’s Hull headquarters from Monday July 25 at 10am.

One of the officers is accused of unnecessarily punching a male detainee before later lying when interviewed about the incident.

In two further incidents, it is suggested that the officer lied to a custody officer about where a man was arrested and also returned home from work without informing their supervisor.

The officer is alleged to have breached standards in respect of the use of force, honesty and integrity and duties and responsibilities.

A second officer also faces accusations of failing to challenge or report that excessive force had been used to detain a man by his colleague.

It is also alleged that the officer failed to give a full account of the force used by their colleague when interviewed.

On a separate occasion, the officer is also believed to have fallen asleep twice after being tasked with keeping an eye on a vulnerable detainee, putting them at risk of harm.

The second officer faces allegations of breaching standards in relation to challenging and reporting improper conduct, honesty and integrity and duties and responsibilities.

Humberside Police claim the hearing is to be held in private is due to “welfare and safety concerns” relating to one of the accused officers.
