Police officers hurt in Leeds A1 crash

Two police officers were injured when their car crashed on the A1 motorway at Leeds.

The crashed happened at 5.32pm yesterday (June 21) as the marked police car was being driven north near the slip road to Wetherby services.

The car car veered up the embankment and came to rest on the hard shoulder.

No other vehicle was involved.

It is not known if the police car was in “blue light” mode.

The motorway was closed down to allow the Yorkshire air ambulance to land.

The officers were taken to Leeds General Infirmary. They did not suffer serious injury and were kept in for observation.

The cause of the accident is being investigated, but it is believed there was a large amount of surface water on the motorway at the time.
