Police plea for help over raids by burglars

Police are investigating a spate of burglaries in communities in North Yorkshire.

Last night a spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said it was investigating a series of incidents in Middleton Tyas and Stokesley which had taken place just a few days apart where thieves had stolen items including fuel, batteries and other items.

Officers sad the three burglaries took place between Sunday, April 21 and Wednesday, April 24.

Two of the thefts took place in the Middleton Tyas area, when thieves broke into secure compounds before stealing items from vehicles. The stolen property includes a plasma cutter, a cable detection instrument, car batteries, a compressor and approximately 400 litres of diesel.

Police said thieves also struck at an address on Romany Road, Stokesley, when they stole fourteen vehicle batteries and a socket set.

Officers from the Hambleton and Richmondshire safer neighbourhood command are appealing for information following recent thefts in the district.

PC Eddie Reid, of Stokesley safer neighbourhood team, appealed for anyone with any information to come forward.

“I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have been offered any of the stolen equipment and ask them to get in touch as soon as possible,” PC Reid added last night.

Anyone who can assist with any of these inquiries is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for PC Eddie Reid.
