Police in plea for information on Polish couple found dead in Bradford flat

POLICE today released the identities of a couple found dead in a flat in Bradford earlier this week, as they tried to piece together their last movements.

Officers were called to the flat in Hallfield Road, Manningham, shortly before 9pm on Monday, where the bodies of a man and a woman were found.

The man has since been identified as that of Polish national Bartlomiej Jakub Bozek 33. A post-mortem revealed he had been hanged.

His girlfriend Karolina Wasilewski, 28, also Polish, was the tenant of the flat. The cause of her death is still unclear.

Bartlomiej, also known as 'Bart', is known to have lived in the Tarnow area of southern Poland, near to Krakow. Ms Wasilewski was originally from the Belchatow area.

Polcie are not seeking anyone else in connection with their deaths, but want to trace anyone who may have seen either of them in the days leading up to the discovery of their bodies.

Det Supt Sukhbir Singh said: "We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen either Karolina or Bartlomiej since the Christmas and New Year period up to and including the 17th of January.

"So far we know that Bartlomiej was last seen alive on Thursday, 6 January, but the last known sighting of Karolina is believed to be on New Year's Day, Saturday 1 January."

Officers are particularly keen to speak to members of Bradford's Polish community.

Det Supt Singh said: "We know that both Bartlomiej and Karolina had links with the Polish community in Bradford so it's very likely that the information they have could be particularly useful to our enquiries.

"Anyone who is concerned about language barriers can contact officers and make an appointment to speak to us alongside our Polish translator."

Witnesses are asked to contact 0845 6060606 or to text 07786 200805, starting the message with the word 'Hallfield'.
