“I can give assurances that we are doing everything within our power to locate the offender and seek the justice that we all desire.”

The attack happened last Saturday in a mounded area of a field that links Westfield Place and Grange Lane between 6.50pm and 8pm.

The 18-year-old victim had just got off a bus when she was pounced on from behind by a stranger carrying a knife. The attacker was white, in his late 20s, 5ft 5in to 5ft 8in, medium build, with dark cropped hair.

Mr Raw wants to hear from anyone on the No.1 First Bus which left the city centre at 6.45pm. They should call 0845 6060247, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
