Police probe assault by cyclist on eight-year-old girl near Selby

An eight-year-old was assaulted by a cyclist outside her home in North Yorkshire.

North Yorkshire Police say the male cyclist hit the child over the head at around 4.30pm yesterday in Mill Lane in Carlton, near Selby.

The cyclist is described as a white man wearing black cycling lycra, a black helmet and bright orange glasses. The bike he was riding is also described as black.
