Police rebuild box hit by arsonists

A POLICE box which was burnt down last summer has reopened.

The box on Broadstone Way in Holmewood, Bradford, has been out of action since July but now it has been rebuilt and officially opened by Bradford South Divisional Commander Chief Superintendent Alison Rose.

It is one of several Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) contact points across Bradford which are staffed by police officers, police community support officers and volunteers.

Inspector Osman Khan, who leads the Tong and Wyke NPT, said: “Contact points like this one in Holmewood enable us to have a base in the heart of the communities that we work in.

“We are determined to be as accessible as possible to people and the contact points are another way of doing this. As well as volunteers, PCSOs and police officers will be using the contact points when needed.”

Chief Supt Rose said: “The reopening of this police box demonstrates that we won't be beaten.

“It’s a shame that someone decided to burn the first one down – after all they’re only ruining their own neighbourhood with such actions.”
