Police say mother stabbed to death as estranged husband faces court

A WOMAN who died after an assault outside her East Yorkshire home suffered multiple stab wounds.

Linda Merigo, 40, described as a caring mother with a two-year-old son, was fatally injured and died at the scene.

Her estranged husband Alfredo Merigo appeared in court yesterday charged with her murder.

Wearing a dark T-shirt and trousers and flanked by two security officers, Merigo, 43, of Weelsby Street, Grimsby, spoke only to confirm his details

Mrs Merigo, a social worker, who was from a well-known East Yorkshire farming family, had moved into Clematis Close in Driffield only recently.

Magistrates remanded Merigo in custody to appear before Hull Crown Court on Monday.

Merigo's solicitor Richard Fowler made no application for bail.
