Police search for group of youths after York robbery

A man is in hospital with serious head injuries after a robbery in York.

The incident happened on Mill Street near to Piccalilli and George Street York between 6.40pm and 7pm yesterday evening, Friday July 29.

The 35-year-old victim, from York, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary. Police said this morning he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police investigating the incident have cordoned off an area on Mill Street and George Street. Officers remain on scene whilst enquiries continue.

They are now appealing for witnesses.

Anyone who was in the area of Mill Street and George Street between 6.40pm and 7pm yesterday is asked to contact police.

In particular, anyone who saw a group of youths is urged to get in touch by calling 101 or Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting reference 12160135699.

A 15 year old boy from York has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.
