Police search for owners of stolen jewellery

POLICE in South Yorkshire are trying to trace the owners of stolen pieces of jewellery which were recovered from a house in Grimethorpe High Street on Wednesday.

The items include a black watch in a black pouch and two gold watches, one of which is a commemorative Queen's Diamond Jubilee edition.

Also found was a badge representing the Norwegian Transport Workers' Union and a set of cuff links with the letter 'G' engraved on them, in a box and purchased from the Barnsley British Co-operative Society. The box also contains a hand-written note saying: "With all my love, Jean. November 1957."

A 19-year-old man from Grimethorpe has been arrested on suspicion of theft and a 24-year-old man, also from Grimethorpe, was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods. Both have been released on bail until September 8.
