Police support worker charged over death

A SUPPORT worker at Yorkshire’s largest police force is to appear in court accused of causing her mother’s death by neglect.

Angela Pearson, 52, has been charged with manslaughter by gross negligence and suspended from her job at West Yorkshire Police.

The charge follows a police investigation into the death of her 82-year-old mother Eileen Pearson, with whom she lived in Guiseley, Leeds.

Officers are understood to have spent about two weeks searching the women’s home in Fairway, Tranmere Park, after the death was reported in May.

At the time neighbours said large boards were put up around the perimeter of the garden while forensic officers examined the scene.

Pearson was arrested shortly after her mother’s death was reported and was charged by police last week. She is now due to appear before magistrates in Manchester on Friday next week, November 25.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “A 52-year-old woman is due to appear in court charged in connection with the death of an 82-year-old woman.

“The woman, from Guiseley, was charged on Friday November 11, with manslaughter by gross negligence of Eileen Pearson whose death was reported to police on May 10 this year.

“We can confirm the woman charged is a member of police staff, not a serving officer. “

“She is currently suspended,” the spokesman added.
