Police target drug-dealing suspects

Suspected drug dealers are being targeted in a major operation in Halifax.

Calderdale District Police have this week launched the latest phase of Operation Irondale after receiving information from the local community about suspected drug dealing in the area.

This follows similar raids, also part the operation, back in January, during which 57 people were arrested for drugs related offences across Calderdale.

Police have arrested 26 people in connection with the supply of Class A and B drugs after officers targeted addresses in central Halifax in the latest phase of the operation.

Items seized as part of house searches included drugs, two cars and two firearms.

Superintendent Stan Bates, head of operations for Calderdale division, said: “Irondale is a major operation against people who have no consideration for the lives they are ruining through their drug dealing.

“I said back in January that this was not a one off and the nature and scale of this on-going operation demonstrates our commitment to dealing with criminals in Calderdale who cause misery in our communities.”
