Police warning after tails hacked off three horses

POLICE are warning people to be vigilant after three horses' tails were hacked off in North Yorkshire.

The horses were on land at Gargrave, near Skipton, when they were attacked.

Their owner said: "I'm very upset at the disturbance to the horses, their tails have been hacked off with a sharp knife, so not one swift cut – this upsets me immensely. It is an invasion of privacy and has distressed the horses."

Craven wildlife crime officer Pc Vanessa Bateson said: "This is a really unusual occurrence which has left the owner understandably distressed. She's at a loss to know the reason behind such an action."
