Police warning
on seatbelt law

Humberside Police will be clamping down on people who don’t wear seatbelts this month.

Nearly 30 years after it became compulsory for a driver or a front seat passenger to wear a seatbelt, surveys suggest 15 per cent still don’t. The force says they want people to be aware that it can put lives at risk – and there is the chance of a £100 fine. Pc Barry Gardner said wearing a seatbelt could be “the difference between life and death.”
