Bar’s New Year’s Eve shutdown

A LATE-NIGHT bar had its licence suspended for New Year’s Eve following a spate of violent attacks.

The Redstone bar on West Street in Sheffield will remain closed until January 10 following the decision by the city council’s licensing committee yesterday.

The bar was closed this month after an alleged knife attack at the venue – the 18th police incident since it opened in February.

In November about 50 people were seen brawling outside.

The committee also imposed a series of new conditions upon the venue, reducing its permitted admission and alcohol sales hours.
