Ceremony befitting a star held for late MP Jo Cox

long before Jo Cox became an MP she had made a name for herself as a dedicated campaigner for charity Oxfam.

Friend and the charity’s head of news Tricia O’Rourke remembered how in her decade with Oxfam she took on those in power without fear.

As head of advocacy her passion she led on some of the charity’s instrumental work in helping women in Africa.

She took eight female leaders including the former Irish President Mary Robinson, to a refugee camp in Chad to see what was happening in the neighbouring conflct in Darfur.

“They came here to London and then to Washington and New York. This was incredible.

“She really brought what was happening directly to the politicians.”
