Conservative council seat row escalates

A ROW between a former Conservative councillor and the Keighley and Ilkley Conservative Association has escalated after an appeal over his deselection failed to materialise.

The Association told Adrian Naylor, 52, an appeal would be held after a ballot decided he could not defend the Craven seat on Bradford Council in May. Another candidate is due to be selected tomorrow.

Mr Naylor said: “I was notified as of Friday the association will hold a selection panel for my seat in Craven. But I haven’t been given an appeal date and the appeal has not been held. If they hold my appeal after Friday what is the point in holding it?”

Association chairman Councillor Dorothy Clamp confirmed selection will go ahead tomorrow. She said she had been told Mr Naylor would be given three appeal dates, but she did not know when these would be.
