Councillors are expected to approve financial plans next week which would see the authority making savings of £800,000 and look to cut a further £600,000 from its budget.

Council leader Yvonne Peacock said: “As with all councils, our grant from central government is reducing due to the continued measures to reduce austerity so we have to make savings too.

“However we intend to deliver a zero per cent increase in council tax over the life of this council as well as savings in excess of £800,000.”

Residents in Richmondshire may nevertheless see increases in other parts of their council tax bill which sees charges from the county council, police and fire service as well as parish council precepts.
