Creagh brands Conservative opponent in Wakefield "sneering"

LABOUR's Mary Creagh has criticised her Conservative opponent as "sneering" for appearing to suggest working class people should not drink Costa coffee.

Writing on Twitter, Ms Creagh, who is defending the Wakefield seat for Labour, criticised a post by Antony Calvert last month.

The tweet from Mr Calvert said: "Man recognises me at Wakefield Westgate. 'These f****n Tories always looking to trample on t'working class, like me.' Man walks into Costa'".

Highlighting the post on Twitter, Ms Creagh wrote: "This sneering tweet sums up why Wakefield Tory candidate doesn't deserve your vote."

Ms Creagh successfully defended her Wakefield seat at the last election but with a majority of just 2,613 which the Conservatives are hopeful of overcoming this time round.

Mr Calvert was also the Conservatives' candidate in Wakefield two years ago.
