Elections 2016 results: What to expect and when

IT'S BEEN dubbed Super Thursday but the results are likely to stretch through Friday and Saturday.

Voters in Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough chose their new MP overnight.

The counts for Hull and Wakefield Councils have also been completed.

Counting is now under way in:

Barnsley

Bradford

Calderdale

Craven

Harrogate

Kirklees

Leeds

Rotherham

Sheffield

Results have already started emerging and are likely to be completed by early afternoon.

It could take longer in Rotherham and Sheffield where all seats were up for election and voters had as many as three votes in each ward,

Yorkshire councils also have the responsibility of counting the police and crime commissioner votes in their districts with the final results in each area the responsibility of Barnsley (South Yorkshire), Ryedale (North Yorkshire), East Riding (Humberside) and Wakefield (West Yorkshire).

In West and North Yorkshire, the PCC votes will be counted in the afternoon with a result expected around 5pm.

The Humberside vote will be counted from 11.30am while South Yorkshire PCC votes will be tallied from 9.30am.

The result of the closely watched London mayoral election is expected on Friday evening.
