He will launch Ukip’s manifesto which promises to cut stamp duty on homes built on brownfield land, 6,000 new police, prison service and border agency staff and a five-year moratorium on unskilled immigration.

“For the first time in 100 years, there is real change on the horizon. All you have to do is vote for it,” he will say.

Ukip’s opponents are likely to question the party’s sums but Mr Farage will sound a defiant note insisting the manifesto only includes “serious, fully costed policies”.

“On the major issues of the day - immigration, the economy, our health service and living standards – the establishment parties have repeatedly and knowingly raised the expectations of the public, only to let us down, time and time again.

“In many ways, this is where UKIP came from: a feeling that successive governments were no longer representing the will of the British people.

“Now, at last, there is something to vote for, if you believe in Britain,” he will say.

The Ukip manifesto will include the party’s commitment to ending hospital parking charges and increasing the NHS budget by £12 billion.
