Hundreds of new jobs for the steel city

Up to 300 new jobs have been created in Sheffield as part of a services firm’s move to a new base in the city centre.

XLN, which provides phone lines, broadband, mobile, card processing and energy services to small businesses, has acquired a “state of the art” 14,000 sq ft area at One North Bank to allow for the expansion of its sales and account management teams.

Christian Nellemann, the company’s chief executive, said: “XLN has been based in London since 2002 and we have built up a very successful business, already employing around 250 staff.

“Our brand new office in Sheffield is set to double that and will enable us to create an exciting, modern environment for new additions to the XLN team in keeping with the dynamic, growing company we are.”

Sheffield’s highly regarded universities and reputation as a growing business hub in the UK made the city an ideal base, Mr Nellemann said.

Councillor Leigh Bramall, cabinet member for business, skills and development at Sheffield City Council, hailed the announcement, saying: “This move is further recognition that the economy is on the up and that Sheffield has a top-quality offer when it comes to city centre office space and an excellent workforce.”
