Jobs at risk at soft drink plant

Staff at Europe’s largest soft drinks plant are among almost 300 across the country facing redundancy.

Coca Cola Enterprises yesterday said around 54 jobs at their massive Wakefield operation, located on the 41 Industrial Estate, are under threat.

A spokeswoman for CCE said: “Following a strategic review, we are proposing to end our direct delivery service in Great Britain.

“This service is primarily used by food service outlets. If these changes were implemented they could result in the loss of approximately 288 roles.

“We expect these proposals could result in a reduction of approximately 54 roles in our Wakefield facility.”
