Motor dealer goes into administration

A MOTOR dealer with branches across the region has gone into administration with the loss of almost 180 jobs.

H & L Garages, which supplied Mercedes Benz commercial vehicles through outlets in Hull, York, South Killingholme, Boston and Lincoln, ceased trading on Friday because of “difficult trading conditions”, its administrators said yesterday.

A total of 176 out of 194 workers at the firm have been made redundant.

Paul Bates and Graham Newton, business restructuring partners at BDO LLP, have been appointed joint administrators of H & L Garages Limited. They are now seeking a buyer for the company’s assets. Mr Bates said: “Unfortunately, the economic climate and difficult trading conditions adversely affected the business.

The joint administrators are taking all necessary steps to mitigate risks to stakeholders and, going forward, will seek to maximise recoveries for the benefit of creditors.”

The firm traded in new and used vehicles and carried out repairs and other services.
