Police called as ‘slimy’ jibe riles UKIP activist

A UKIP activist who wants to be a Yorkshire MP reported a former parish councillor to police after being called “slimy” and receiving critical emails.

Paul Latham, UKIP’s general election candidate in Keighley, reported former Haworth parish councillor Mark Pullen for alleged harassment after the pair exchanged emails and messages on forums.

Mr Latham, a former management consultant, said the comments included “rude remarks” such as “slimy” and had been sent to his hotmail account.

Mr Pullen, of Brighouse, said he could not understand why Mr Latham hadn’t ignored the comments. He had used an email address published on a UKIP website.

A police spokesman said no crime had been committed but the sender had been advised “regarding the content” of the comments and the use of a personal email address.
