Scotland Yard call to FBI intercepted

Scotland Yard has suffered a major security breach after a conference call with the FBI was intercepted and published online.

A member of the “Anonymous’ collective of hackers published a 17-minute recording of police and the FBI discussing details of investigations into various hacking groups – including dates of planned arrests – during a 17-minute conversation posted on YouTube.

During the call, the officers and agents discussed the names of alleged hackers they were tracking, and plans for legal action.

The Scotland Yard officers even joked about a conference on cyber-crime in Sheffield, telling the FBI that they had not missed much by not having visited the city before – adding it was “not exactly a jewel in England’s crown”.

And when one of the FBI agents thanked UK police for their support, the British officer replied: “We’re here to help.

“We’ve cocked things up in the past, we know that.”

Last night the FBI said the information “was intended for law enforcement officers only, and was illegally obtained”.
