Sea horses

IT might not have felt like seaside weather for most of the country but members of the Household Cavalry braved the North Sea with their horses yesterday.

After a busy year of official duties which has seen the cavalry heavily involved in the pomp and ceremony of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations a section of troopers rode their horses in more relaxed surroundings during their summer holiday at Holkham Bay in Norfolk. The British Household Cavalry is made up of two regiments of the British Armed Forces, the Life Guards and the Blues and Royals (Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons).

These regiments are divided between the Armoured Regiment which are stationed at Combermere Barracks in Windsor and the ceremonial mounted unit, stationed at Knightsbridge Barracks.
