Still a chance to get answers to key questions over fracking controversy

The event will be held on February 12 at the Cedar Court Grand Hotel in York and will start at 6pm.

It will be a chance for Yorkshire Post readers to get answers to the big questions about this controversial mining method and the implications for the region.

A panel of key figures will include Mark Hill, head of development management at the North York Moors National Park Authority and Linda Cowling, leader of Ryedale District Council.

They will be joined by a representative from environment campaigners Friends of the Earth and Professor Christopher Bovis, Professor of International and European Business Law at Hull University Business School.

The public debate follows a series of articles in the Yorkshire Post looking at the issue of fracking 
in the latest of its Big Debate series.

The Government argues the mining of shale gas through fracking could increase energy security, raise millions of pounds in tax and potentially help reduce the cost of energy but green campaigners worry about the impact on the environment.
